THE driver of a LEVC has landed a huge fine after being caught speeding almost double the road limit in Greenwich.
Mowlid Ali, of Mera Drive in Bexleyheath, was caught speeding at 39mph in Woolwich Road, which has a 20mph speed limit, on October 19, 2021.
The 30-year-old denied the offence but was found guilty during a hearing at Bexley Magistrates’ Courts on July 7, 2022.
He was ordered to pay £995 for the offence.
This includes a £450 fine, £45 to fund victim services, and costs of £500.
The speed was recorded with a Pro Laser 4 camera.
He was also given six points on his driving licence.
The fine for the offence must be paid in monthly instalments of £80 starting from August 4, 2022.
