It could be the end for bendy buses after two candidates for London mayor have ruled out buying any more.
Mayor Ken Livingstone has announced there are no plans to buy more of the contentious buses, while Conservative challenger Boris Johnson says he would replace them with Routemasters if elected.
While ruling out buying any more, Mr Livingstone insisted they had been popular with commuters.
He said the buses, introduced in 2001, had been put on a small number of routes where double-deckers were overwhelmed by the number of passengers.
But critics argue the longer, hinged buses are not suited to London streets and have cost money through lost fares.
