A man has been arrested after police found a knife and cannabis during a stop and search in Woolwich.
Officers were on patrol when they noticed a man was hanging around on the stairs that lead from Gorman Road to Marine Drive.
The man was paying attention to the officers and police said that he appeared to change route when he saw them.
Officers believed that the man was in the area to buy drugs so drove to Francis Street and detained him for search.
Police say the suspect admitted that he had a small amount of cannabis hidden in his boxer shorts.
It is also alleged that the man was carrying a knife.
He was arrested on suspicion of possession of cannabis and on suspicion of an offence under points and blades.
