Two Metropolitan Police officers charged with driving offences after a 25-year-old woman was killed when she was hit by a patrol car have been told to appear at the Old Bailey.

Shante Daniel-Folkes, from West Norwood, south-east London, was struck by the vehicle in Stockwell Road, Brixton, south London, as it was answering an emergency call at around 11.20pm on Thursday June 9.

Pc Nadeem Patel, 27, of Barking, east London, and Pc Gary Thomson, 30, of Haywards Heath, West Sussex, stood together in the dock at London’s Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Monday.

Patel, who was driving the car, did not make a plea to a charge of causing death by dangerous driving.

Thomson, who was driving a separate car, pleaded not guilty to a charge of dangerous driving.

The officers, who are both currently on restricted duties, were bailed and told to appear at the Old Bailey for a preliminary hearing on November 14.

The charges followed an investigation by the Independent Office for Police Conduct, the court heard.
