A young child has died after being found unresponsive in a home in Woolwich.
Emergency services were called to Shrewsbury Lane just after 3.20pm on Tuesday.
The child was taken to a south east London hospital and was pronounced dead at 4.55pm.
The infant’s next of kin are aware.
The incident is being treated as unexpected.
Police enquiries into the circumstances are ongoing.
A spokesperson for Metropolitan Police said: “Police were called by LAS at 3.23pm on Tuesday, 25 October to an address in Shrewsbury Lane SE18 after a child was found unresponsive.
“The child – an infant - was taken to a south east London hospital and later pronounced dead at around 4.55pm.
“Next of kin are aware.
“The death is currently being treated as unexpected.
“Enquiries into the circumstances are ongoing.”
