Charity Walk for Peace (CWFP) – which is an initiative of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Elders Association UK – is pleased to announce its launch of the National Poppy Appeal Collections campaign taking place across the United Kingdom.

This year, Charity Walk for Peace is looking to match its 2021 collection of a staggering £685,000 in funds raised for the RBL Poppy Appeal in just 12 days! This was achieved by hundreds of volunteers selling poppies at busy underground and overground stations; at local supermarkets; and through many other venues in respect of the forthcoming Remembrance Day on the 11th of November.

The Charity Walk for Peace ‘Poppy Appeal’ campaign is linked to its annual ‘Walk for Peace’ events organised all over the UK, where hundreds of thousands of pounds are raised for UK-based charities every year. To date, CWFP has raised a total of over £7 million through its members volunteering hundreds of hours across the UK.

Mr. Mubashir Siddiqi, Head of CWFP’s Poppy Appeal campaign, said:

“We are committed to serving humanity and focused on our fundraising efforts throughout the year for hundreds of UK-based charities. One of the highlights of the year is the annual Poppy Appeal campaign in which our volunteers take an active part at this time of year. It is a wonderful opportunity to help those who served their country so that we may live in peace and, furthermore, it is an opportunity to remember those who lost their lives during the World Wars.”

The campaign is launching today on the 29th October, 2022, and will run up to 13th November in anticipation of yet another successful year in fundraising and to promote world peace by honouring those who formed our lives today.

The nationwide appeal was launched in regions across the country in association with MPs and Mayors, including our own Joan Henry, Mayor of Merton.

Naseem Bajwa, Imam of Baitul Futuh Mosque in Morden, urged to his congregation on Friday to support the appeal "as a way of attaining nearness to God." He said participating in such activities was a "form of worship" as their religion teaches them to replicate kindness shown to the country by its Armed Forces.
