Berberè Pizzeria is bringing a slice of its popular Italian cuisine to Kentish Town.
Founded by Calabrian brothers Matteo and Salvatore Aloe in 2020, their Clapham Common restaurant has featured in global restaurant guide and app: "Where Chefs Eat," and been awarded a top rating by Italian food and wine expert Gambero Rosso.
The 76-seat pizzeria opens on Kentish Town Road on November 15 with an additional outdoor dining terrace on the street. With pared back interiors featuring exposed brick and Italian street art, Berberè Pizzeria's menu includes signature antipasti the montanarina; crispy deep fried dough balls topped with the likes of ‘Nduja and tomato sauce, aged smoked ricotta and basil, or anchovies, burrata, leeks, chilli and lemon.
Using signature dough made daily with organic flour from Emilia Romagna, the pizzas range from classics such as the ‘Napoli’ with anchovies and capers, to unique Berbere creations including salsiccia with Yorkshire pork sausage, tomato and fiordilatte mozzarella, the spinaci with sauteed spinach, red onions, taleggio, aioli and parmigiano, and the vegan orange crush, with creamed butternut squash, leeks, black olives, chilli and peanut butter.
The drinks menu features classic Italian cocktails, Italian wines and local beers from the likes of Two Tribes.
Matteo and Salvatore said: “We always wanted to elevate the humble pizza with the best dough and ingredients, but also we want people to have fun, sharing slices with their friends and a glass of wine. Sharing is a huge part of the Italian way of life so we’re excited to be sharing Berberè with Kentish Town”.
