"Huge Beatles fan" Tulip Siddiq paid a visit to the north London recording studios set up by producer George Martin.

She said she was "delighted" to watch a recording session at AIR Studios in Lyndhurst Road, Hampstead, on Monday.

The Hampstead and Kilburn MP joined five other members of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Music - Kevin Brennan, Jeff Smith, Bambos Charalambous, Ian Paisley and Lord Taylor of Warwick - to help build links between politicians and the music sector.

“As a huge Beatles fan, it was amazing to see the studio founded by their legendary producer Sir George Martin," said Ms Siddiq. "I wanted to name my son Jude after my favourite Beatles song, but my husband said he didn't want to spend the rest of his life listening to people singing Hey Jude to him.

She added: “I’m so proud to represent a constituency that is famous for its music, arts and culture, and the creative sector is such an important part of our community.

"I know it has been a difficult few years for the industry and during my visit I spoke to staff about the challenges currently facing the sector.

"We discussed the huge contribution that the arts make to the UK’s economy and culture and I assured them that they will always have my support in Parliament.”
