Currently, many Y11's are sitting or have already sat or are due to do their November mocks. Each day has become extremely daunting for every GCSE student, especially for those who find it difficult to manage their stress. The causes of stress are limitless but to outline a few these could be: overwhelmed by how much revision there is to be done, underwhelmed by how little revision one has done, the pressure of over achieving and many more major/minor inconveniences that leads a student to be burntout.

For these to be avoided there are effective revision techniques that can be used and will help avoid straining your mental health.

The first one is the pomodoro technique. In the pomdoro revision technique you revise for 25 minutes and take a break for 5 minutes in between until you reach an hour of revision, you then take a 15-30 minute break to refresh yourself completely before you get back into your zone.

The other one is the teacher revision technique. First, you should revise whatever it may be you need revision for then you become a teacher and leave your revision and explain what you've just revised to yourself. However, you explain it as if you're talking to a 5 year old, which would require you to break down and explain in detail. If you don't then a 5 year old wouldn't understand right? This is effective as repeating yourself helps.

One last effective revision technique is blurting. All you do is 'blurt' on a whiteboard or paper what you already know about the topic/subject you're revising. Then, you should go over the topic/subject and see what you missed out. Repeat this until you get all the points you need.
