The most famous faces from the South East London borough of Bexley have been revealed and the result may come as a surprise!

An interactive map created by researcher and geographer Topi Tjukanov shared the birthplaces of the most 'notable people' around the world, including Bexley. 

It showed the area's most notable names and biggest stars, from legendary musicians to notable artists.

Who are the most famous people from Bexley?

Kate Bush

The iconic singer and songwriter Kate Bush was born in Bexley and grew up in Welling where she found her love for music and writing. 

The singer gained mass popularity with her debut single 'Wuthering Heights', whilst in 2022 she saw a resurgence in her song 'Running Up That Hill' after it was used in the hit Netflix show Stranger Things. 

John Paul Jones

Fellow musician, John Paul Jones was born in nearby Sidcup and is an English musician, composer and record producer who was the bassist and keyboardist for the rock band Led Zeppelin.

When the 'Stairway to Heaven' artists disbanded, Jones took on a solo career and collaborated with artists including The Crooked Vultures, Dave Grohl and Josh Homme. 

Sir Edward Shepherd Creasy 

Historian and jurist Sir Edward Shepherd Creasy was born in the local area and has his portrait hung in the National Portrait Gallery. 

Creasy is best known for his work towards his book Fifteen Decisive Battles of the World and for serving as the President of the Ceylon Branch of the Royal Asiatic Society. 

Jane Alice Morris

Designer and embroiderer, Jane Alice (Jenny) Morris was born in Bexley and was the daughter of designer, craftsman and writer William Morris. 

Jenny was known for her involvement in the arts and crafts movement and her work can be seen in the William Morris Gallery in London.
