The alert states “The change to milder conditions has been delayed once more to the end of the new coming week with cold and frosty conditions persisting across southern areas of England. It will be dry although freezing fog will continue to be a hazard as well as some ice.”
People are urged to visit and check on family members, vulnerable neighbours, and anyone who may not be able to afford to effectively heat their houses. This is especially important in locations where the night-time low temperature is below zero degrees C. It is advised that warm food and beverages are available, and that houses get heated to at least 18 degrees C. This is especially important for individuals who live with people who are or are vulnerable, have physical limitations, chronic illnesses, or are over the age of 65.
