Without a doubt this recent pandemic affected everyone: restaurants, supermarkets, retail stores, hospitals, etc. It hit us all like a storm and caused havoc amongst the public. We were robbed of our daily lives: being able to socialise with our friends and family, having the regular afternoon chat with our local corner shop owner and the feeling of excitement when going for a delicious meal in a restaurant.

We were deprived of that warm feeling of hospitality that everyone craves occasionally.

Problems the Pandemic Caused:

While the streets were being filled with the echos of footsteps, cars, and joy once again and laughter filled the rooms of the once empty restaurants and pubs, there was still one thing that was missing...

A feeling that was not alien to us 2-3 years ago pre pandemic.

A feeling that some might question is never going to be felt again.

That once known feeling of normality.

People come to restaurants, bars and pubs to feel life like how it was before this unfortunate event. People want table serving again. They want the prices before inflation again. They want that old feeling of hospitality.

However, it is not only customers that are facing problems but also business owners. Bills are rising due to inflation, having issues with suppliers, finding members of staff available due to Covid restrictions and having to isolate.

Hospitality had taken a hit.

Solutions to the Problems

There are problems but there are also solutions. Businesses strive to make that feeling of hospitality come back to normal but also by keeping us customers safe. Many places are holding community-based events to bring back the social feeling we have all missed. They are giving their customers the feeling of being part of a community again, taking away the feeling of isolation we have all grown too familiar with. Although service may not be the same, owners are doing their best to give you the best, adjusting their services to customers wants and needs while also keeping their staff happy and respecting that times are not the same and there are safety rules that must be obeyed.

Speaking to Dave the general manager of @lockhouselondon he shared with me that “everybody in hospitality are beautiful people.”

Indeed, hospitality may not be the same as it was, but it is filled with “beautiful people” who are willing to go the extra mile to make your experience memorable.
