Are we putting too much pressure and stress on Year 11s?
Not only have they just finished their mocks or maybe they have another round of mocks in some schools just before easter which they will have to revise for, they are still being set homework in each lesson and revising for tests for spots into a different sixth form. This is still with all the stress of having to pick out their future and revising for one of their most important exams in thier lifetime!
Due to all of this I think year 11s are incredible stressed and overworked which can be noticed from them being more emotion then normal, trouble making decisions which could affect their A-Level choices, drinking to help relax which could lead to a problem if starting this young and trouble to remember which could lead to trouble revising and reaching a grade that might have been needed. If they are more stressed on one day and tht day being an entrance exam for a sixth form that lack of remembering could lead to them doing badly on that one day and not getting into their sixth for they wanted.
'stress at a young age can lead to deterioration of their mental health'-Asona.
However its not just year 11 affected by this time of year but also the actual A-Level students more so lower sixth because of the big leap they have taken from GCSEs to A-Levels and then having to meet all the new standards and some may have joined a new school. I think schools could help more with these stress levels if they have more choice support in earlier education.
