A restaurant housed in a really old restored Dutch Barge in east London has just been given its first AA rosettes.
Barge East, found on Regent's Canal near the cluster of canal-side eating and drinking spots in Hackney Wick, has not only picked up two AA rosettes, the restaurant has also earned a Silver Environment Recycling Award from green sustainability organisation First Mile, and a Sustainable Venue Award from Venue Scanner - a website that does what it says on the tin, basically.

The restaurant plates up seasonal British dishes in a 120-year-old barge which makes for an intimate and novel dining experience.
It's casual fine-dining - the boat is by no means as polished as the food, but that's all part of the charm.
Open for tasting menus, a la carte, or just a couple of drinks, the kitchen team at Barge East not only cooks with the seasons, but they prepare dishes using many ingredients grown in the Barge's canal-side gardens - there's no air miles there.

Come the summer months, you can sit in the gardens, amongst the growing produce, for a more rustic, informal meal of frozen cocktails and street food.
Before claiming these two AA rosettes, Barge East has picked up a Catey Award in 2021 for Best Newcomer and a Taste of London Award for Best Restaurant in 2022.
