Have you got what it takes to work your way through a labyrinth of tests and challenges that will gain your freedom? Are you an enthusiastic game player, who works well under time pressure? If you think the answer is yes, then Tulley’s Escape Rooms is the perfect day out for you.

Tulleys is a family run farm, based just outside of Crawley and is more famously known for its annual Shocktober fest. Each year it welcomes 100,000 guests, whether it be for the most terrifying and thrilling night of visitors’ lives, or for sunflower picking in the summer. However, day-to-day Tulleys’ main feature is it’s escape rooms and I was lucky enough to test out their newest game, SpellCraft.

The game started by splitting the team into two, as the ‘good’ half take on Spellinda’s vibrant sweet shop, while the ‘evil’ side take on twin sister Evilinda’s lair. Throughout the hour, teams must collect ingredients, which come together at the end to create a potion that opens the final door. Puzzles along the way range from everything to tasting jellybeans and using the flavour to fathom the letters for a padlock to completing a jigsaw puzzle to open cupboards. It was mind boggling to see how every mini puzzle interconnected as one thing always led to another.

What stood out about this specific escape room was the special effects. One of the puzzles solved led to the entire room moving, aligning the door with an entrance to a completely different room.

With eight members in our team, we escaped the room with 6 minutes and 23 seconds to spare. This was just one of Tulleys’ five escape rooms that are open: others include Mutiny, Outfitters, Dodge and Nethercott Manor.

Tulleys next big event will be their sunflower picking in summer, but in the meantime, I would recommend getting down to the Escape Rooms to anyone.
