Britain’s largest mosque, located in Morden, hosted an historic event this week to commemorate and celebrate the forthcoming coronation of His Majesty King Charles III.
The event was thoroughly enjoyed by over 700 guests including politicians, a huge contingent of over 50 armed forces personnel, emergency services, community and faith leaders and charities including the Royal British Legion.

The event was compered by Iftikhar Chaudhri BCAv Former Mayor of Runnymede. Chairing the event, Mr Rafiq Hayat, President of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Association UK said the recent month of Ramadan had helped members serve their creator. He offered prayers and good wishes for the forthcoming coronation of His Majesty King Charles.
The special reception and dinner on Wednesday included guided tours of the Baitul Futuh Mosque in Morden, Surrey with its recently rebuilt administration block and conference facilities. It was sponsored by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Elders Association and hosted by Charity Walk for Peace which has raised almost £9m for over 600 UK charities.
Celebrations continue on Coronation Day as the biggest mosque brings out the bunting to invite neighbours and friends to walk in for tea and samosas on Sunday 7th May from 1 till 6.
