This year, Dame Alice Owens performed their Spring Musical, Chicago. The teachers who are part of the Drama, Music and Art Departments collaborate annually to produce phenomenal performances. They had been preparing for this for months, and it paid off.
The actors were from Year 8 and upwards, excluding Years 11 & 13 as they have their exams in the coming weeks. Everyone had an important role to play, whether it was a lead role or a dancer in the ensemble. These students put endless time and effort into their rehearsals, which was evident during the performance nights. I was part of the Tech Crew for the production, who are responsible for all lighting, sound, props and more. After attending 4 all day rehearsals, I felt confident in my role, while also enjoying spending time with my friends. We worked together effectively, so most of the nights went smoothly.
Parents, friends and teachers all came to watch all the hardwork and dedication that we put into the musical, and standing ovations were a common occurrence each evening. It really should be something that everyone who took part in should be proud of.
