Cricklewood's landmark pub The Crown is now welcoming back punters after a major refurb.
Pints are once again flowing at the Grade II listed Victorian pub following a reopening party attended by the Honourable Mayor of Barnet, Councillor Alison Moore, local MPs, Councillors, and business leaders.
They got the chance to see inside the spruced up bar on Cricklewood Broadway, which has been closed for four years.
Now under the ownership of AG Hotels Group, the historic watering hole has been a central feature of the area since it opened in 1899, and has been retitled The Crown Pub & Grill.
Their "substantial refurbishment" has been careful to upgrade the ornate interiors and infrastructure, while keeping the historical legacy intact.
Designed by architects Shoebridge & Rising for The Cannon Brewery of Clerkenwell, the imposing red sandstone building replaced an earlier coaching tavern serving carriages travelling from Watford and St Albans into London.
The pub has a one star listing in CAMRA's London Regional Inventory of Historic Pub interiors for its ornate ceiling and bar, etched glass and decorative fireplaces which remain "little altered since 1900".
General Manager Craig Cox said: "We are working hard to give the patrons of the Crown Pub a unique and special experience that blends the vintage Victorian feel with modern amenities and style. The pub will perfectly combine traditional pub culture with modern flair, offering a unique and welcoming space for locals and tourists alike."
The Crown is at 142-152 Cricklewood Broadway and adjoins the four star, 152-bed Crown London Hotel.
