An investigation has been launched after a discarded mattress caused a garage fire in Bromley.
Fire crews were called to Waters Road at 1.50am last night (Tuesday, July 4).
Half of a single-storey garage was damaged by the blaze a well as a garden fence.
No injuries were reported.
London Fire Brigade’s 999 Control Officers received 11 calls about the fire.
The fire was under control by around 2.20am.
London Fire Brigade Bromley tweeted: “Crews from Bromley attended a fire in a residential area following a mattress that had been discarded and set alight.
“We’re working with partners to investigate.
“Please, if you see discarded waste on our streets, report it to Bromley Council.”
A spokesperson for London Fire Brigade said: “Firefighters tackled a fire on Waters Road in Bromley overnight (July 4).
“Half of a single-storey garage was damaged by fire.
“A garden fence was also destroyed by fire. There were no reports of any injuries.
“The Brigade's 999 Control Officers received 11 calls about the incident.
“The Brigade was called at 0150 and the fire was brought under control by 0220.
“Two fire engines from Bromley Fire Station attended the scene.”
