An iconic pub believed to be nearly 200 years old has been sold - but the new owner is yet to be revealed.
Ann Monaghan, who ran The Elephants Head, in Camden High Street, for 42 years, has chosen to retire.
She said: “It has been a fantastic time running the pub, not just on a business level but also a personal one.”
Believed to date back to 1832, the pub is located in the heart of Camden, on the main pedestrian throughfare from Camden Town underground station.
The lease comes with a four-bedroom manager’s flat above the main space.
Andy Frisby, director & head of Central London Agency added: “The Elephants Head is a remarkable pub, and it was no surprise that there was a huge amount of interest in the property when we brought it to market.
“We had a number of viewings and there were a number of serious offers, so it is no surprise that the pub was only on the market for a short amount of time.
“I wish Ann and her family the very best for their next chapter.”
