A 15-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of murder after an 18-year-old boy was stabbed to death near a supermarket.
Police have named the teenage victim of the fatal stabbing in Regents Park Road, Finchley, on Monday (August 7) as Yusuf Mohamoud.
Officers and paramedics from the London Ambulance Service found Yusuf near Sainsbury’s supermarket at around 9.45pm.
Despite the best efforts of emergency service personnel, the 18-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 15-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of murder yesterday (August 9) after attending a north London police station. He currently remains in custody.
Yusuf’s next of kin have been informed and a post-mortem examination has given his cause of death as a stab wound.
Police say enquiries into the 18-year-old’s murder continue.
Investigating officer Detective Chief Inspector Neil Rawlinson said: "I would reiterate my appeal to anyone who was in the area of Regents Park Road, near the junction with Lichfield Grove, and who witnessed the events that led to the attack on Yusuf to come forward and speak to police.
"I’m specifically keen to talk to anyone who was in the area between 9pm and 10pm on August 7.
"Another young man has died as a result of violence and left a family devastated - we need the public's help to ensure Yusuf’s family get the justice they deserve."
