An unusual bar in Peckham set up on top of a muti-storey car park has been named the best rooftop bar in all of Europe.
Based on Rye Lane, Frank’s Café was named number one of 50 bars recognised by Big 7 Travel, beating out bars in Spain, Turkey, Switzerland and so many other countries.
Big 7 Travel chose this bar because of its 360 views of Peckham and its relaxed atmosphere.
Frank’s Café was praised for its simplicity and amazing, seasonal food with its brunch being a local favourite.
The wide range of drinks at affordable prices was also recognised, especially with the high prices in London.
A spokesperson for Big 7 Travel said: “Take in 360 views of Peckham and beyond from Frank's Cafe – a relaxed rooftop bar on a multi-storey car park.
“The power is in its simplicity, as well as its excellent, seasonal food.
“Their rooftop brunch is a local favourite, too.
“As well as great food, you’ll also find a wide range of drinks at decent prices – music to everyone’s ears in London.
“It's only open during the summer months, so make sure you get all the use you can out of this gorgeous spot.”
Big 7 Travel says not to miss brunch on the roof at Frank’s Café and that visitors must try a jug of their Pimms.
The bar is based in a multi-storey car park that was commissioned in 1980 by Sainsbury’s, and when the supermarket closed the car park was no longer being used.
Bold Tendencies is a not-for-profit organisation supported by Southwark Council.
The council has agreed to a long-term lease for the car park which led to it being taken off of the local area redevelopment plan and is now run by Bold Tendencies.
Frank’s Café bar was designed by Practice Architecture and was Bold Tendencies’ first architecture project and is a hit with south Londoners.
It offers food, drinks and even brunch and the closest station for those wanting to visit is Peckham Rye.
