A Greenwich nursery where children are given the chance to “flourish and reach their full potential” has been praised after its latest visit from Ofsted.
Bright Horizon’s East Greenwich Day Nursery was rated good after its inspection just before the summer holidays, on July 24, 2023.
Inspectors staff as “nurturing and caring” and recognised that they establish consistent routine for children here so that they are settled.
It was found that children here get the opportunity to experience a “broad curriculum” with activities that let them develop their “physical skills”.
For example, younger children in the nursery’s baby room are “motivated and encouraged to take risks safely by staff”.
Inspectors witnessed children carefully climbing up the stairs of a climbing frame and then “gleefully glide” down the side.
It was also reported that children are “kind and polite” and able to share their resources.
Ofsted reported that children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) are well supported.
Staff at the nursery were found to know these children well and “skilfully interact with them”.
Inspectors found that managers have built good relationships with parents and that parents are complimentary of the feedback they get about their children's learning and development.
Parents have said that they value the progress their kids have made since joining the nursery.
However, inspectors did find that sometimes staff do not consistently reinforce high expectations of children.
Sometimes, it was also found that staff ask children closed questions and don’t give children enough time to think for themselves and give answers to questions – instead, answering for them.
Bright Horizon’s East Greenwich Day Nursery and Preschool manager, Loraine, said: “We are delighted to receive this Ofsted result.
“I am extremely proud of the team and all of their hard work to ensure the very best for our children and families.
“Our Bright Beginnings Curriculum ensures that every child receives the best early years care, focusing on learning through play.
“At East Greenwich Day Nursery and Preschool we are passionate about giving each child the opportunity to flourish and reach their full potential, and so I’m happy that this has been recognised by Ofsted in our most recent report.”
