A man has been charged after a homophobic attack in Brixton.
Jabbard Madounda, 31, of Crosby Walk will appear at Croydon Magistrates’ Court on Friday, September 29.
He is charged with one count of racially/religiously aggravated ABH and two counts of racially/religiously aggravated assault by beating.
This is in relation to an attack on Brixton Road at 10.30pm on August 19 when two men were standing at a bus stop.
They were then assaulted by another man.
The two men went to hospital where their injuries were treated.
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: “A man has been charged following a homophobic attack in Brixton.
“Jabbard Mabounda – 31 (12.05.92) of Crosby Walk, SW2 will appear in custody at Croydon Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 29 September charged with:
- one count of racially/religiously aggravated ABH;
- two counts of racially/religiously aggravated assault by beating.
“This relates to an incident on Brixton Road, SW9 at approximately 22:30hrs on 19 August.
“Two men were standing at a bus stop when they were assaulted by another man. The two men went to hospital for treatment to their injuries before being discharged.
“Both victims are being supported by a dedicated LGBT+ Community Liaison Officer.
“Their role is to support individuals who have been involved in hate crimes towards the LGBT+ community.”
