A Royal British Legion club has denied rumours that it will be closing after operating for nearly 70 years.
The Romford branch will be celebrating its 70th anniversary at its Western Road premises next year – and it won’t be going anywhere despite speculation about its future.
According to Russ Howe, the club chairman, there has been false information circulating that the club would shut.
He said: “We are not closing. The club is open for businesses as usual, providing facilities to members, guests and visitors.
“Our drinks prices are competitive, there is air conditioning, entertainment on Saturday evenings, bingo on Wednesday evenings and two meeting rooms available. Our membership is the largest in Greater London.
“We have signed a new lease with The Royal British Legion and next year we will have been in our premises in Western Road for 70 years.”
