Visit St Ives - an idyllic seaside town in Cornwall, perfect for your next holiday.
Over the Summer holidays, I was lucky enough to spend a week in St, Ives, Cornwall. Located on the western shore of Cornwall, St Ives is the epitome of beautiful beaches, delicious ice creams, and brilliant seaside shops. There is an endless list of exciting activities for anyone to try - but where do you start?
First of all, a wonderful holiday is never complete without delicious food. Everywhere you look, there is an array of sweet little seaside restaurants from which you can take your pick. Ranging from seafood, dessert parlours to Thai food, there is something that will suit anyone in St. Ives. For example, during my holiday, I frequented the Talay Thai Kitchen and I would highly recommend it. As a vegetarian, it can be difficult to come across varied options in restaurants, however all of the restaurants in St. Ives were incredibly accommodating. In one seafood restaurant, there was even a banana leaf fish and chips!
Of course, no one can miss the wonderful ice cream when travelling to a seaside town like Cornwall. Scattered throughout St Ives, little ice cream parlours take tourists by storm with their unique and delicious flavours. Notably, I tried an Amaretto flavoured (a type of Italian cookie) one which was a flavour which I had never heard of before, and it was delightful. However, you must be aware of the notorious seagulls, who are ready to take a bite out of every meal they see. I personally witnessed this when someone in front of me had their ice cream be snatched away by a ruthless bird!
You may not be thinking of following a nature trail in a seaside town, however it is unmissable and definitely a haven of peace. Surrounded by gorgeous and idyllic views, the scenic cliffs and nature trails of St. Ives are breathtaking. Spend a morning with your family surrounded by nature and the picturesque seaside - these create beautiful photo opportunities, allowing for the wonderful moments to be treasured forever.
Of course, you can’t go to St Ives without visiting the gorgeous beaches! Discover Cornwall’s golden sands by simply taking a stroll along the beach, sunbathing, or just appreciating the view. There are millions of precious pieces of sea glass littered on every beach, which you can find and keep as a keepsake. Many small businesses in the St. Ives’ craft fairs sell gorgeous little crafts made with this sea glass and a lot of love. It would definitely be worthwhile to browse and purchase these, as well as novelty seashells which can be found in special seashell shops at affordable prices.
Without a doubt, I cannot recommend a holiday in St. Ives enough - its scenic atmosphere and gorgeous beaches speak for themselves. Cornwall can be visited at any time during the year - why not go during these Christmas holidays? Winter in Cornwall is always a lot quieter without the hustle and bustle of the summer. Explore St Ives at your own pace this Christmas and make memories which will last you a lifetime.
