Carshalton little league takes the victorious glory on Saturday 25th November 2023.

The young footballers, aged up to 8, competed in the 'Bantam' age category at their club. They showed great sportsmanship and teamwork, winning the weekly trophy. The little league players, in school years 2-3, played with enthusiasm and took home the local title.

During the one-hour tournament, the young players won 1-0, demonstrating their agility and teamwork. Selikem Ahadzie, a 6-year-old defence player, described the match as "amazing"! He described his enthusiasm for the game and his love for football because “you can use any type of tackling skills” and he enjoys “learning how to improve my defending” as this is his favourite position to play.

Since 1974, this club has been providing "football for all," offering a healthy and active way for kids to have fun, develop their communication skills, and stay fit. These clubs and matches strengthen the local community and allow children to interact with their peers in a sport they love, without feeling pressured to perform.

Parents and carers also get involved, creating a friendly and supportive atmosphere. They cheer on their mini footballers week after week throughout the season. To keep everyone energized and motivated during the matches, there is even a mini café available on-site by the park.

"The Bantams League is all about fun. While we keep track of the scores, we don't focus on league tables like we do in other leagues. This league is about building teamwork, boosting confidence, and most importantly, having fun!" - Carshalton little league.

Regardless of the chilly atmosphere, the players kept themselves active, had fun and took home the winning title, and there is a high chance local clubs like these are shaping the next generation of sporty stars.

Overall, this little league provides a fantastic opportunity for young footballers to enjoy the sport, learn important skills, and be part of a supportive community. It's a wonderful way for kids to stay active, make friends, and have fun on the field!

If you or any friends or family are interested in getting involved, the coaches are always welcome to conversations on the field and are confident with allowing all football fanatics to get playing. They also have a highly interactive website to help you get started in the club.
