Stalls providing an array of food, Christmas gifts and small trinkets, Kingston Christmas market offers Christmas festivity in a magically lit up setting.

When it comes to gift-finding, the experience may seem enjoyable but slightly stressful at the same time - people want to find the most suitable, unique gifts to fill up the stockings of their loved ones. The Kingston Christmas market has a wide range of stalls, all different from another, which sell a selection of gifts. Whether it’s hand-made jewellery and decorations, or traditional wooden music boxes, there’s something for everyone - a variety of things with different options to choose from.

There is no shortage of food stalls either. What’s gratifying is the range of foods available to eat; street food from cuisines around the world, and new additions to the market which include Chickenish and The Cheese Wheel. There are delicious food options for all, whether you eat meat or are vegan. Whilst shopping, you can help yourself to some treats or try foods that you’ve never had before which opens you up to a glimpse of the wide selection of meals the world has to offer.

Not only does the Christmas market provide food and gifts, but entertainment too. To elevate the festive atmosphere and add to the seasonal cheer, there is live music and Christmas carol singers with whom members of the community can sing along during their performances. When speaking to Eliza Reign, an audience member watching the music performance, it was evident that there was a magical element to the atmosphere. She mentioned how it was “great to see people, from different places, come together to celebrate Christmas with warm wishes and singing.” In relation to entertainment, the market also has Bavarian curling lanes where people can try out one of the oldest winter sports.

Also keeping in mind the importance of charity and helping others, there is an Open Mic night hosted weekly which is in association with Kingston Churches Action on Homelessness - donations will be collected during these events and opportunities are provided for people to share their talent with the local community. With food and drink, gift stalls and entertainment, the Kingston Christmas market is a cheerful setting that keeps in mind the meaning and joy of Christmas. The market will be open until 31st December - I would definitely recommend a visit.
