An investigation has been launched after a pensioner was killed in a bus crash.
Emergency services were called to Walthamstow bus station at around 5.15pm on Friday (December 15) after a woman was hit by a 212 bus run by operator Go Ahead.
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We sent a number of resources to the scene, including an ambulance crew, a medic in a fast response car and an incident response officer.
“Sadly, a woman was pronounced dead at the scene.”
Waltham Forest police said on X that the woman was in her 70s.
An investigation has been launched to establish what happened.
A TfL spokesperson said: “We are extremely saddened that a woman has tragically died after a collision with a bus and our thoughts are with their family and friends.
"We are working urgently with the operator, Go-Ahead London, and the police to investigate what happened."
A Go-Ahead spokesperson said the company was "urgently investigating a fatal incident that took place on Friday December 15 2023 at approximately 5.20pm inside Walthamstow Bus Station, where a Route 212 bus collided with a pedestrian".
They added: "The company extends its sincere condolences to all those affected and is working with relevant authorities to establish the facts."
"We are thinking of everyone affected by this incident and will support everyone however we can.”
