An arrest has been made after a man was reportedly seen with a knife near Lewisham DLR station.
Police were alerted of the incident by a 999 call from a member of the public yesterday morning (January 9).
The man was detained by the Metropolitan Police mounted branch team and Lewisham response officers assisted in recovering the knife.
He was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon and taken into police custody.
A spokesperson for Lewisham MPS said on X (formerly known as Twitter): “Incident took place yesterday morning near Lewisham DLR station whereby a 999 call was made by a member of the public, they had seen a male with a knife.
“The local Mounted Branch who parade out of Lewisham Police station were first to respond.
“In finding the male, the mounted branch had detained the man, the Lewisham local response team assisted in recovering the knife, and the male was taken to Lewisham custody and on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon.”
