A row of flowers have been laid at the scene where a woman was stabbed in Bexley.

The 33-year-old, named locally as Leila, was found injured in Penhill Road just after 4pm on January 16.

She was taken to hospital in a critical condition.

A spokesperson for Metropolitan Police told the News Shopper that she died from her injuries on January 23.

Her family have been notified and are being supported by specialist officers.

A post mortem examination will be scheduled in due course.

Candles, bouquets of flowers, and handwritten notes were left at the scene of the incident.  

One of the notes says: “So heartbreaking. I am so sorry this has happened to you. Sleep tight and may you rest in peace.”

Another one read: “Leila you will always be remembered for the loving brilliant mum you are.

“We will never forget you.”

Tony Curant, 33, of Penhill Road was arrested on January 20 and he was charged with attempted murder on January 21.

He appeared at Bromley Magistrates Court on January 22 where he was remanded in custody.

He is next due to appear at the Old Bailey on February 5.

A spokesperson for Metropolitan Police said: “A murder investigation has been launched after a woman stabbed in Bexley has died from her injuries.

“The victim, a 33-year-old woman had been stabbed at Penhill Road, Bexley on Tuesday, 16 January.

“She was taken to hospital where she sadly died from her injuries on Wednesday, 23 January.

“Her family have been notified and are being supported by specialist officers.

“A post mortem examination will be scheduled in due course.

“A man has been charged in connection with the investigation.

“Tony Curant, 33 (22.10.90) of Penhill Road was arrested on Saturday, 20 January and on Sunday, 21 January he was charged with attempted murder.

“He appeared at Bromley Magistrates Court on Monday, 22 January where he was remanded in custody.

“He next appears at the Old Bailey on Monday, 5 February.”
