A man has been charged with firearms offences after a loaded gun was found at a home in Lewisham.

In the early hours of February 3, officers spotted a BMW car linked to a man who they wanted to trace in connection with an assault on a female in north-west London.

The car failed to stop for police and a bag was thrown from the car in Plough Way, SE16.

Two people then ran away, but police recovered a loaded gun from the bag.

Police then searched a home in Lewisham on February 16 where they found a second loaded gun.

Two men were arrested.

One of them, aged 24, was subsequently charged with offences including possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life and possession of ammunition.

The second man, aged in his 50s, was bailed pending further enquiries.
