On February 9th, Surbiton High School went on its annual trip with year tens and elevens to Iceland, to spend five days in the country. The trip consisted of five nights in different hotels, across Iceland, with daytime activities included and was a great success.
The trip was planned and arranged by Miss Rogers, a teacher at the school who did an exceptional job, while also accompanied by fellow teachers Miss Reeves and Miss Cattell. Due to the recent eruptions that have been happening in Iceland, some of the activities were expertly rearranged by the team.
the trip consisted of twenty people and the activities began upon arrival. During the first day, as the girls were quite tired from the early start, activities consisted of visiting a few monuments and an early night. The first full day began by visiting a few waterfalls and Icelands wonderful scenery ( a bit cold though). Snorkelling was also on the agenda, with everyone taking part in , even the teachers, and was led by professionals. The third and fourth day consisted of visiting plenty of Icelands wonderful attractions and beauty's, such as geothermal centres, horse rides, black sand beach and glacier hiking and climbing,( a lot harder then it looks but very enjoyable and the views were stunning)! During the last full day, the students visited the secret lagoon (as the blue lagoon had unfortunately been closed down due to the eruptions), as well as a live lave show! To Finnish off the trip, each student was gifted with personalised galentines cards with chocolates from the teachers ,to celebrate the day.
the Iceland trip was decided from some of the students as one of the best school trips they have attended and look forward to future trips. As per tradition, phones were not allowed (apart from the school phone in case of emergency) and the students enjoyed taking a break from social media enjoy spending time with friends and making some memories!
