A brand-new Wetherspoons could be opening soon at the site of a former Crystal Palace pub.
Wetherspoon pub The Grape and Grain, in Anerley Hill, closed its doors in November 2017 and the site of the pub was put up for sale last year.
A planning application was initially approved by Bromley Council to extend the building in May 2019.
This included two storeys on top of the existing pub, as well as a three-storey addition on the Church Road side of the building and roof garden.
All development projects of the new build were put on hold as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
On August 11, Wetherspoons confirmed that it was no longer looking to develop the pub and that the site was put up for sale.
But in an update today (April 9), a spokesperson for Wetherspoons told the News Shopper that it has decided not to sell the site.
They added that the premises will be redeveloped it into one of the company's pubs in due course.
“The proposed scheme that Wetherspoon wish to develop will need a new planning application," said the spokesperson.
“The company is preparing to start discussions with the planners.”
