A car show in Chislehurst saw thousands of visitors flock to the high street to celebrate more than 150 classic and unusual vehicles.

The Chislehurst Car Show, run by Visit Chislehurst, returned for a second year on Sunday, May 12, with more than 10,000 visitors, and 180 cars, bikes and vans.

From as early as 7.30am, vintage cars including a 1980's XR2, an American school bus, a McLaren, and a 1966 Ford Mustang began to line up in the high street and on the Chislehurst Commons.

Chislehurst High Street was closed for the day and the Commons featured fairground rides for children, as well as stalls and a bar.

Awards were also given to the most well-maintained and unique vehicles.

An Aston Martin DB4 won the "Cool Britannia" category, a Lotus Elite won the "Best Interior" prize and a 1903 Cadillac model clinched the "Judge's Pick" award.

Event organisers Visit Chislehurst said the car show, which ran from 11am until 4pm, was only possible because of their team of volunteers, their sponsor Lollipop Events, and the Chislehurst Commons.

Chair of Visit Chislehurst, Mike Jack, said: "It was a fantastic weekend.

"We had a huge amount of support from the people that manage the Commons, which made it even more special because we were able to have stalls, automotive rides for the kids, and people could have picnics.

"We have a number of volunteers that we couldn't do our events without."

He added: "It was a lovely family day, that brought a lot of traffic to the high street - and Visit Chislehurst is all about supporting high street.
