Believe it or not, Lewisham is home to a "true treasure" - the last remaining 1950s-style ballroom in London - and you can still dance the night away under its chandeliers.

The Rivoli Ballroom, located at 350 Brockley Road, Crofton Park, first swung open its doors back in July 1913.

Despite its more than 100 years of history, the ballroom has still only clocked up 36 reviews on TripAdvisor and 173 on Google Reviews, with an average of 4.6 stars across both.

It is therefore one of the highest-rated attractions in Lewisham and, at the same time, quite literally underrated.

Those who have left reviews consistently rave about the "totally brilliant" and "gorgeous authentic" ballroom.

Reviewer Dean H from London said on TripAdvisor: "The Rivoli ballroom is a great place to have a boogie with your friends.

"The staff are friendly, drinks are well priced and the vibe is wonderfully unpretentious.

"Of course, the music is always on point and a total crowd pleaser.

"Been several times and they never fail to deliver a great night.

"A true treasure."

The ballroom was designed by Henley Attwater and remains the only intact 1950s-style ballroom in the capital.

As well as its themed dance nights, The Rivoli Ballroom also hosts pop-up cinemas and jive parties, and is sought after as a filming location - used in Strictly Come Dancing, The Muppets, and Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Kylie Minogue has even spun around in this Lewisham hidden gem in her famous gold hotpants.

Its authentic 1950s and 1960s look has remained much the same over the years, with both the interior and exterior fittings providing the perfect vintage backdrop for films.

Jessie Dunn, who attended a Halloween cinema evening, said she will "definitely be returning".

She left a five-star rating on Google, saying: "The staff were really friendly and the venue was perfect for a screening of The Shining.

"The bar and snack offerings were good too.

"Highly recommend."

The Crofton park venue has also changed people's lives.

One partygoer said on Google Reviews: "Amazing unique place, I did meet my wife with there so I have to give it five stars."

That's certainly a five-star rating to dance to.
