A survey inviting Havering residents to share their views on crime and disorder in the borough has been launched.

Havering Council opened a Community Safety Residents’ survey for 2024 on Friday (May 24) to find out “how residents feel about different types of crime” in the region.

The questionnaire, the council says on its website, will help shape the work done by the partnership that is made of staff from Havering Council, the Met Police, London Fire Brigade, probation services, health services and other organisations.

According to the Met Police data dashboard, overall offences reported in Havering between January 2023 and January 2024 went up by 6.3 per cent. Incidents of knife crime during the period, the dashboard reveals, were up by 30pc.

The council adds that the survey will give them an understanding of residents’ perceptions of crime and anti-social behaviour.

“It will help us not only to understand local issues but to make recommendations about steps that might be taken to address some of these issues.  

“Without your feedback, it would be more difficult for us to understand some of these trends and the impacts that this might have had in your neighbourhood”, the council says.
