Two Turkish kebab takeaways and a pub that was once saved from redevelopment scored poor food hygiene ratings.

Nine establishments in the Camden borough scored a 2/5 – meaning improvement was “necessary” or below during inspections between April and mid-May.

Inspectors from Camden Council’s environmental health even found that two of these scored the lowest possible score, a 0/5, meaning that ‘urgent improvement’ was necessary.

The nine venues include:

Kkini

This Korean barbecue restaurant on Fortress Road, Tufnell Park, was given a 1/5, meaning ‘major improvement’ was necessary, on April 15.

The management of food safety was rated ‘major improvement necessary’, while the cleanliness and condition of facilities and hygienic food handling were given an ‘improvement necessary’ rating.

Woody Grill

The Camden High Street takeaway near Mornington Crescent was given 0/5, meaning ‘urgent improvement’ was necessary, on April 18.

Both the hygienic food handling and management of food safety required ‘major improvement’, while the cleanliness and condition of facilities was given an ‘improvement necessary’ rating.

Woody’s Grill

Located in Camden Road, next to Camden Town station, this takeaway scored 1/5, meaning ‘major improvement’ was necessary, on April 22.

The management of food safety needed ‘major improvement, the hygienic food handling was given an ‘improvement necessary’ rating, while the cleanliness and condition of facilities was considered ‘good’.

Le Tea Cosy

On April 18, this spot was given 1/5, with ‘major improvement’ necessary.

The management of food safety needed ‘major improvement', the hygienic food handling was ‘generally satisfactory’ and the cleanliness and condition of facilities was given an ‘improvement necessary’ rating.

Inca Chips

This stall in Hawley Road was given 2/5, with ‘improvement necessary', on April 22.

The management of food safety was ‘generally satisfactory’, the hygienic food handling was found to be ‘good’ and the cleanliness and condition of facilities was rated ‘improvement necessary’.

The Old White Bear

Miller Clark, which serves food at the Old White Bear pub in Well Road, Hampstead, was given 0/5, with ‘urgent improvement’ necessary, on April 24.

The management of food safety and cleanliness and condition of facilities were given a ‘major improvement necessary’ rating, while the hygienic food handling was rated ‘improvement necessary’.

The pub reopened in 2021 after a seven-year closure.

AOS Express

This shop in Belsize Road was given 2/5, with ‘improvement necessary’, on April 24.

The cleanliness and condition of facilities was given an ‘improvement necessary' rating, the management of food safety was ‘generally satisfactory’ and the hygienic food handling was considered ‘good’.

The Wells Tavern

This Hampstead pub was given 1/5, with ‘major improvement’ necessary, on April 25.

The management of food safety was given a ‘major improvement necessary’ rating, ‘improvement’ was necessary with the cleanliness and condition of facilities, and the hygienic food handling was considered ‘generally satisfactory’.

Shahbhag Tandoori Restaurant

On April 25, this restaurant was given 1/5, with ‘major improvement necessary’.

The management of food safety was rated ‘major improvement necessary’ rating, while both the cleanliness and condition of facilities and the hygienic food handling was judged ‘improvement necessary’.
