A brand-new B&M has officially opened on Bexleyheath Broadway in the former Wilko store creating over 60 jobs for local people.
The popular discount retailer chain opened its newest store at 74 Bexleyheath Broadway, which was formerly owned by Wilko before its closure on October 5, 2023.
The 26,197 sq ft unit has undergone a major refurbishment and on May 31 it opened to the public as the latest B&M store in south London.
The store marks the third B&M store to open this year following stores opening in New Cross Gate and Thamesmead.
The new store has brought 60 job opportunities to the area and locals can expect to shop for a range of branded products from food and drink to pet supplies, games and cleaning products.
To mark the new store opening, B&M staff were asked to nominate a local charity to receive “VIP treatment” for their work.
Bexleyheath Foodbank was named the winning charity for their work to supply food for people in the area, ensuring those in need receive vital food supplies and support.
The charity was selected to open the store along with staff and will also receive £250 in B&M vouchers to go towards the work the charity do in the local community.
The store manager said: “It was really exciting to welcome customers through the doors; the feedback so far has been fantastic.”
“A big thank you to the team at the Bexleyheath Foodbank who helped us open the store; we hope that our donation can help them to continue to do the great work they do.”
The new B&M store at number 74 Broadway in Bexleyheath is open from 8am to 8pm on Mondays to Saturdays and 10am to 4pm on Sundays.
