South east London is home to some beautiful greenspaces to enjoy a picnic this National Picnic Week.
With National Picnic Week set to take place between June 14 and June 23, plenty of people will be heading out to take some time in nature with a picnic.
Whether you are looking for a park with convenient travel links or with London city views, there are stunning places to stop off for a picnic this June.
Cator Park, Berkeley's Kidbrooke Village
If you’re looking for somewhere with plenty of greenery and open water, Cator Park is well worth a visit.
With its 20 acres of green space, this David Attenborough award-winning park is home to hundreds of trees offering a scenic location to take a picnic.
The park also has a clear river pool and plenty of water sources to sit by and survey the wildlife on a nice day.
For the children, the park also offers an adventure playground with plenty of things to explore, designed by Apes Adventure Playground Engineers.
The park is accessible by only a few minutes walk from Kidbrooke station.
Central Park, Greenwich Peninsula
Located within a short walk of the O2 and the popular IFS Cloud Cable Car, Central Park is a great spot to enjoy a picnic with views of the Thames.
Offering 2.8 acres of land, this park offers plenty of tree-lined areas if you want to enjoy a picnic in the shade.
Nearby, you will also find Greenwich Peninsula’s Ecology Park, stretching across four acres with 80 different species of birds to find, open to visit from 10am to 5pm on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday
Elephant Park, Elephant and Castle
If you fancy visiting somewhere where you can take a picnic listening to the sounds of water, head over to Elephant Park.
Located in Elephant and Castle, Elephant Park offers two acres of land which features colourful rain gardens and walkways along with a water playscape otherwise known as “Elephant Springs”.
With its naturalistic planting scheme you wouldn’t think this park was located in such close distance to central London.
The park also has a children’s play area, along with a roof terrace where you can buy hot drinks and an on-site grocery store if you forgot to buy something for the picnic.
With travel links to central London from Elephant and Castle station, this park is a great stop for a picnic on a day out to London.
