A 150-year-old pub has reopened with a new pool table and a dart board with digital scoring.

And the operator of The Three Horseshoes in High Road, Whetstone, has pledged to get involved with charities and sports teams as well as hosting events.

The watering hole, under the umbrella of Craft Union, was temporarily shut earlier this year for refurbishment and now has refreshed interiors and a new-look courtyard.

A new pool table and a dart board with digital scoring have also been added.

The Three Horseshoes has Sky and TNT Sports for punters to enjoy – just in time for the upcoming Euros.

Pub operator Donald Morrison said: “The pub team and I have plans to get involved with local charities and sports teams and lots of ideas for upcoming events at the pub, whether that be live entertainment, supporting local performers or hosting activities.

“There’s plenty to look forward to at the Three Horseshoes and we can’t wait to see our locals back at the pub soon.”

Events include board games and free pool every Monday, a general knowledge quiz every Thursday evening and a roof-raising DJ every Friday and Saturday night.

Guests can also look forward to sports viewing on Saturdays during the day and live music from 3pm to 7pm on Sundays, before a tablet quiz in the evening.

The Three Horseshoes has a history that dates back to 1871 when Thomas Samme was a retail seller of beer.

The pub is said to have got its name from the farrier that was once in operation behind it, as was the case for many local pubs at the time.
