A missing woman told police the man accused of her murder is violent and had stabbed her.

Carl Cooper, 66, is accused of murdering Naomi Hunte and Fiona Holm in the space of 16 months – both of whom he was in a sexual relationship with.

Cooper was arrested after Naomi, 41, was found stabbed to death at her home in Woolwich on February 14, 2022, but he was later released under police investigation.

A little over a year later Fiona, 48, went missing from Hither Green on June 20, 2023, and has never been seen again.

The jury in Cooper’s double murder trial has now heard the bulk of the prosecution’s evidence relating to Naomi and prosecution Joel Smith KC is now turning to Fiona’s case.

On Wednesday (June 12) the jury was shown police body worn footage captured from Cooper’s address on Broadfield Road, Hither Green, on April 8 last year.

Officers were called to the address by Fiona but by the time they arrived Cooper was not at the address.

The footage showed Fiona telling police Cooper was a “pervert”.

Fiona also told police Cooper had threatened her with a crowbar.

“He had the crowbar there and he wanted to smash it over my head,” Fiona told officers.

She also told police Cooper had previously stabbed her with a screwdriver.

Mr Smith previously told the jury that Cooper was arrested and interviewed about these allegations but was released without charged on April 12 last year.

Jury members were also played CCTV footage of the last sightings of Fiona on June 20 last year.

The trial continues.
