If you love beer, south London is home to several breweries you can tour – including one that’s 500 years old.

To celebrate National Beer Day today (June 15) we’ve found all the brewery tours and tastings you can do in south London.

Brixton Brewery

Where? Taproom - Arch 548 Brixton Station Road, London, SW9 8PF

When? Every Saturday at 4pm

How much? £15

If you fancy trying some hand-crafted beers with a twist, Brixton Brewery offers visitors a chance to tour their brewery every Saturday from 4pm.

You’ll take a tour of the brewery, learning more about the beers and how the brewery first began in 2013 making traditional beers with “a Brixton twist.”

The tour will finish up with a tasting session in the Taproom, where you’ll have a chance to try some of the beers.

Gosnells of London

Where? Arch 1, Bellenden Road Business Centre, Bellenden Road, London, SE15 4RF

Head over to Peckham where you can take a tour of Gosnells, known as London’s “first meadery” in 500 years.

During a tour you’ll learn about the brewing process and have a chance to try their meads and honeys, which are used to make all-natural alternatives to beers and ciders that are low in sugar and sulphite-free.

Sambrook’s Brewery

Where? 1 Bellwether Lane, The Ram Quarter, London, SW18 1UR

When? Selected Saturdays and Thursdays every month

How much? £15 per person

Wandsworth is home to Sambrook’s, London’s oldest independent brewery, situated within the former site of Ram Brewery dating back to 1533.

You can take a Heritage Tour of the site lasting for 1 hour, where you’ll learn about the history of the site and how beer has been brewed there for the last 500 years.

During the tour you’ll also be given a chance to try some historic styled ales as well as a pint of the famous Sambrook’s cask ale range.

If you fancy trying your hand at brewing you can also try out their “Brewer for the day” experience, where you’ll try your hand at brewing under an experienced brewer, with tickets priced at £100.

Wimbledon Brewery

Where? Wimbledon Brewery, Unit 8 College Fields, Prince Georges Road, London, SW19 2PT

When? Saturdays on July 6, August 3, October 5 and November 2.

How much? Tickets start from £20

Head over to Wimbledon where you can visit the Wimbledon Brewery, based on the former Merton Priory that brewed during the Middle Ages.

These one hour tours will take you on a guided tour of the brewing process and explore the history of the brewery, dating back over 140 years from when it was first established in 1882.

Visitors will also have a chance to taste a glass of cask beer and a taste of their whisky-barrel-aged vintage, as well as a pint glass to take away.

Small Beer Brewery Tour

Where? 70-72 Verney Road, London, SE16 3DH

When? Selected Wednesdays and Saturdays each month.

How much? £15

Hosted by UK Brewery Tours, this tour of the Small Beer Brewery in Bermondsey explores how they make a selection of ABV beers.

During the hour-long tour, guests will have a chance to try the five classic beer styles ranging across the malt spectrum.
