A Bexleyheath pub that’s over 180-years-old has been shortlisted as one of the best town pubs in the UK.
The King’s Arms in Bexleyheath is known for its Sunday roasts and cinema sessions on the roof terrace.
It will compete against five other pubs for the title of best town pub in the category sponsored by Molson Coors.
The King’s Arms has bounced back in previous years after being crashed into by a car back on January 29, 2023, at around 2.40am.
As a result, the venue had to do some repairs to the exterior but the pub’s owner, Pete Marshall, told the News Shopper at the time that customers remained loyal, and business was still booming.
He said at the time that he believes customers repeatedly return to the pub for their stunning food and cocktails – with the menu rotating each season while still keeping the fan favourites all year round.
Another thing that drives customers is their events which include the Wednesday quiz and live music on Fridays and Saturdays.
Earlier this year, the pub closed temporarily for renovations.
Areas that leaders felt needed attention were refurbished, while retaining the pub’s classic look and feel.
For example, the bar floor where bar staff stand was replaced and a whole new bar front was put in.
Winners will be announced on Tuesday, September 17 at Victoria Warehouse and tickets are currently on sale.
A spokesperson for the Great British Pub Awards said: “We received an amazing number of top-quality entries this year, and after putting them through our rigorous judging process, we've now got our list of finalists.
“Congratulations to all of the pubs that have made it this far - we wish you the very best of luck."
