A man has been charged with sexually assaulting a woman in West Ham.
Police launched an investigation into the incident after a member of the public found a woman in distress in Paul Street at around 10.30pm on June 1.
The woman, aged in her 30s, was allegedly approached by a stranger while walking home.
Cristino Martinez, of Fabian Street in East Ham, has since been charged with attempted sexual assault by penetration.
The 40-year-old appeared at Stratford Magistrates Court yesterday (July 5) and has been remanded in custody.
He will next appear at Snaresbrook Crown Court on August 3.
