A summer and seaside experience is coming to Croydon’s Centrale rooftop.

Costa Del Croydon will be open to the public from August 1 to 28, offering a seaside experience on the rooftop of the Centrale centre’s multi-storey car park throughout the summer.

The event will be a first for Croydon, transforming the rooftop into a vibrant beach haven with sand, splash zone, and a programme of fun activities.

It will be open seven days a week with two sessions daily: 11:30am – 3pm and 3:30pm – 7:30pm, featuring a mix of free and paid activities.

Families can look forward to a variety of activities that guarantee fun for all ages.

Highlights include a giant sandpit, cosy beach hut seats, bungee trampolines, and a water splash zone, all set against the picturesque backdrop of beachside charm.

The fun continues with opportunities to get into the competitive spirit and have a go at bingo on the beach, dance workshops, hook-a-duck, mini Go Karts, or a game of table tennis.

There will also be a variety of street food, cocktails from the Thirst Trap mobile bar, and ample seating areas.

Visitors can indulge in a variety of tasty food options, from classic pier-side treats like ice creams, candyfloss, and doughnuts, to halal Indian cuisine more.

Activities will move into a pop-up space in the centre if it rains.

This summer event was born from the desire to bring a beach experience to those who might not have easy access to one.

With many families in Croydon living in flats without outdoor space, and the nearest beaches over an hour away in Brighton or Southend, Costa Del Croydon is set to provide an accessible escape filled with sun, sand, and smiles.

Every Tuesday, Croydon Voluntary Action (CVA) will host a community day.

Local groups can apply to showcase their talents and performances, with applications reviewed by URW’s Social Value team, the Centrale team, and CVA.
