July is Independent Retailer Month, so what better time to try out some local businesses on your doorstep?

Greenwich is brimming with independent retailers, especially with Greenwich market being an amazing spot designated for local traders.

It is one of the few places in London without a Pret on every corner, so here are five businesses to explore if you are looking to support local talent:

Dragonfly Lifestyle

Dragonfly Lifestyle is a clothing shop where “fashion and wellbeing products are chosen with love and care”.

Items sold here aim to “reflect our Dragonfly philosophy of celebrating and inspiring women in body, mind and spirit”.

You can find the shop in Turnpin Lane.

Joli Vintage Living

In the age of thrifting and upcycling, everyone loves to browse an independent, vintage store.

Joli Vintage Living is based on Nelson’s Road, just around the corner from the Cutty Sark, and claims to be a “unique, atmospheric treasure trove with two floors of an elclectic array of vintage furniture, fashion, rugs, object d'art and collectables for your delectation.

“So why not drop by and discover that elusive gem?”

Paul Rhodes Bakery

This bakery was founded in 2003 and is still going strong and “constantly evolving”.

Its foundation is a “back to basics approach” to make artisanal products and support independent, UK farmers.

The bakery is based in King William Walk and serves an incredible variety of products including bread, pastries and cakes – everything you could imagine.

Greenwich Book Time

Greenwich Book Time is the ideal spot for south east London’s bookworms.

It is based on Greenwich High Road and is a lovely way to pass some time in peace for a quiet weekend whilst also knowing you are supporting an independent business.

Black Eye Coffee

Black Eye Coffee is a beloved, independent coffee shop in Greenwich.

It has a whopping five out of five stars on Tripadvisor with customers praising the “amazing breakfasts” and “high-quality ingredients”.

It is also dog friendly so a great spot to bring your furry friend along for a hot drink and a sit down.
