Napier Road East Ham fire: Parent's tribute to dead children

A blaze tore through the ground and first floor of a terraced house in Napier Road, East Ham, shortly before 8.30am on July 13.

Nakash Malik, 13, his 11-year-old sister Aayat Malik and their seven-year-old brother Muhammad Hanan Malik all died.

Their devastated parents, Khurram Malik and Naumana Gul Khan, said of their children: “Your lives were a blessing, your memory a treasure.

"You are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure. May you rest in peace in God's heaven.”

Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters were called to the fire just before 8.30am.

A the time of the incident, LFB assistant commissioner Patrick Goulbourne said: "This is a terribly sad incident and the thoughts of all of us at London Fire Brigade are with the family, friends and all those affected at this difficult time.

"Staff will be in the local community over the coming days to offer support and advice where needed.

"The welfare of our staff is very important and all those involved will be offered support from our counselling and trauma service." 

Metropolitan Police officers continue to investigate the cause of the fire alongside London Fire Brigade colleagues.

A Met spokesperson said: "At this stage, there is no evidence to indicate suspicious circumstances."
