You may have heard of a street food market, but have you ever heard of a street food market with a riverside view?

Well, I went to ArcadeX, part of Battersea Power Station, to enjoy a Saturday evening of food, drinks, and a view of the River Thames.

I went there with my dad on July 20, initially hot and bothered by the heatwave that was hitting the country.

But long story short: I realised that eating by the Thames is an absolutely perfect way to cool down.

After taking the River Bus to ArcadeX, we received a warm and efficient welcome from the manager, who gave us free rein to choose where we sat.

One might think we chose a table, but no; we chose to sit on the lounges where we could literally sit back and relax to take in the beautiful River Thames view.

Unlike a restaurant where you awkwardly wait for a waiter or waitress to take your order, you can get up yourself and choose from which food stall you fancy.

ArcadeX offers a variety of different food stalls, from steak to burgers to noodles.

I went Manna’s SMASH burger, which was a burger with a smashed patty, American cheese, ketchup, mustard, mayo, pickles and diced onions.

One word: incredible.

The burger was juicy and delicious, with the highlight definitely coming from the pickles and onions which were bursting with flavour.

I also got a side of waffle fries, which complemented the burger beautifully, especially with their signature Manna sauce.

My dad, on the other hand, enjoyed the chicken bocadillo, which came with a brioche sub roll, sliced steak fried with onions, herby steak spread, and salad rocket.

I’m pretty sure he enjoyed it, evident through the fact he finished it before I was halfway through with my meal.

There’s always room for dessert, but before jumping to that, we decided to take in the riverside view.

ArcadeX provides a wonderful ambiance, combining the liveliness of a street food market with the tranquillity of a riverside setting. As we sat on the lounges, we could feel the gentle breeze coming off the Thames, which was a much-needed relief from the heatwave. The view was stunning, with the river glistening under the evening sun and the iconic Battersea Power Station in the backdrop.

After our little break, it was time for dessert where we enjoyed an ice cream burger.

At first glance, it doesn’t sound entirely appealing, but trust me, once you try it, you’d be shocked.

The vanilla ice cream arrived sandwiched between two brioches.

The sweet and slightly salty matched each other perfectly, making it a perfect end to our evening.

Overall, our evening at ArcadeX was amazing and I highly recommend to anyone who would love to eat with a beautiful riverside view and great food.
