The co-owner of a bagel shop soon to open near Hampstead Heath has said he feels "blessed" to coming to a "beautiful spot".

Work has begun to replace Roni's, on the corner of Swain's Lane, with B Bagel, a chain is run by the same owners.

Co-founders Yoav Baumgarten and Alon Kubi hope to open in October and will offer speciality bagels as well as breakfast, brunch, coffee and cakes to new and existing customers.

Yoav told the Ham&High: "The reason we decided to focus on B Bagel is that sometimes it is better to focus and specialise on one thing because then you get a better product.

"It's going to be exciting, it's going to be a beautiful spot and people will like it, that's my hope."

He added: "When you go to a butcher you want to find meat, not fish. If you are a pizza lover you go to a pizza place.

"For us it's all about the bagel."

The chain already has shops in Camden High Street, Tottenham Court Road, and Brent Cross Shopping Centre, where it offers eat-in, take away or delivery.

It's newest sit down or takeaway outlet is next door to Trade Made, which opened offering speciality sandwiches, breakfasts and brunch last month.

"I think competition is a very blessed thing, it is bringing more  people, it will make this corner and this area more prominent to come for brunch," said Yoav.

"I believe that more is merrier. You don't want to be alone in a spot, because it's a bit sad.

"We want to be a part of it and we hope to be contributing in an amazing way and we're very unique, we're all about bagels."

He said he knew that Roni's had a "big audience" in the area.

"I hope the local fans in Highgate will give us a chance and stay with us," he added.

"It's a beautiful area, beautiful people, a great audience, it's people who know what they like.

"I think they will be happy with the change.

"We're all about quality, we're all about generosity, good vibes, we care for employees and the local community. We are thrilled."
